VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR 2014

calendr_icon MAY 17TH, 2016

Permathia Brown known as Maith has been a volunteer driver for Cessnock Community Transport for 19 years. Maith works full time and travels 55kms to and from work each day. Maith has raised 4 girls and when she has finished work she is always keen to help out with her grandchildren.

From 25 March 2008 till 28 August 14, Maith has provided 409 journeys. Estimating that Maith has picked up 5 people on each journey, we would end up with a total

number of people that she has assisted – 2,045! As Cessnock CT has only had the TRIPS program since 2000, a better estimate of the number of people that Maith has assisted would be over 6,000 people in her 19 years of service.

Manager Kerrie Mowatt says “Over the years Maith has been the most dependable and reliable
volunteer a service could ask for, she puts in a full hard day in the project car. Maith as far as I can recall has never been unable to work on a day that she has already committed too.”

In her acceptance speech at the Awards Presentation, her passion for volunteering is obvious, “I love doing it, who knows, one day we might all need that assistance of community transport.”

Maith is keen to give back to her community and has “a very warm heart and a beautiful way with people, she is also an extremely competent driver.”

Congratulations to Permathia for playing such a vital role in Community Transport.
